OpenAI first ever to defeat world’s best players in competitive eSports. Vastly more complex than traditional board games like chess & Go.

The OpenAI bot doesn’t know how to play Dota 2. To ready for the tournament, the bot underwent two weeks of training that was in the form of real-time learning, which allowed the bot to collect “lifetimes of experience” in a short span of time. The bot started to learn how to win the game.

At the early stage of training, bot used to stand in their base, wander the map aimlessly, and end up getting killed in stupid ways. But slowly it started learning the game itself and started learning when to time its attacks to land the killing blows. The bot developed its own strategies after playing thousands of matches.
